Problem:
When I start erwin DM the splash screen comes up but then erwin DM stays minimized at the bottom. How do I maximize the application to use it?
Solution:
The reason is that when an erwin application is closed the parameters are stored in the registry. So, the last time it was closed it may have been in the minimized state. To bring it back, hover over the minimized erwin at the bottom with the mouse until the application is displayed and then right-click that and choose to maximize.
Modify the properties on the shortcut and chose the Run option specifying maximized.
Another thing that can be tried is to rename the erwin registry entry. Please try the following:
1. Close your erwin DM app.
Go to Start->Run, and type in REGEDIT, click OK.
2. BACK UP the registry first. Go to File->Export and save the current status.
3. Then rename the folder from the following path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\erwin\Data Modeler\9.8
so that becomes
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\erwin\Data Modeler\9.8OLD
Then restart erwin DM.
After erwin DM is launched, this process creates a new folder named 9.8 which now uses the default parameters. Since the default is not set as minimized, that opens the application as expected.
