Question: When the three-way merge comes up (because several modelers are working on the same model and saving into the mart), And we go through reconcile differences and save to the mart, many times the actual changes have not been saved. It is hard to pinpoint when this happens.
We have done this several times and noticed that some changes are not saved. In addition, it has happened that changes were not saved even when one person was working (though it is rare).
Answer: This problem did not occur if the modeler does a refresh on the mart model prior to saving their model changes to the mart (figure 1). The reason the refresh is needed before the save is another modeler may be saving changes while the first modeler goes to save their changes and then they would not have the current version during their three-way merge. So the solution is to do a refresh mart model prior to the save and then the modeler will be saving with the correct current model in the mart. Please instruct your modelers to do a refresh mart model prior to saving changes.
