An error message similar to the following is in the log
ECHO ERROR [FglAM:IncomingMessage[4]-716] com.quest.glue.core.agent.AgentInstance - Failed to start data collection
java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to Initialize Agent. Excption:
For input string: "\x00020802ac1a42440000000000000000"
Cause

On Sun systems the interfaces file might contain entries that look like this:
SYBASE_SERVER
query tli tcp /dev/tcp \x000542236a3ee98c0000000000000000
master tli tcp /dev/tcp \x000542236a3ee98c0000000000000000
In the past this was the way to define an entry in the interfaces file.
The Sybase SAP ASE agent supports interface files in the newer TCP style entry, not TLI entries.
Resolution
The Sybase SAP ASE agent parses the interface file for each server as servername first then in the next line it looks for the hostname and the port
The port value it looks for is an integer, but the TLI value is a string like this "\x000#####AA#A####0000000000000000"

Remove the TLI entries
RESOLUTION 2
To translate these to the usual non-hex notation follow this simple method:
- Take the hex-number from the 5th position to the 8th. Use your favorite calculator to convert it to decimal. The output should be 5000. That's the port number.
- To determine the IP-address take the next 4 pieces of 2 bytes. Convert it into decimal. These 4 numbers are the IP address.
- Use nslookup (or dig) to get the hostname.
The new entry in the interfaces file should then be (using the example above)
SYBASE_SERVER
query tcp ether 5000
master tcp ether 5000
