When referencing the attached HA Field Guide, we do not see a configuration that allows two distinct SERVICE_NAMES to be defined for an Oracle Dataguard configuation.
Is this not supported?
Failovers are supposed to be transparent to the accessing application. Foglight submits a jdbc url to the database driver and the driver does the magic.
The jdbc url contains the service name so if Foglight has to submit a different service name when 1 node goes down, that is not transparent.
Currently, an Oracle Dataguard with more than one SERVICE_NAME is not supported.
STATUS:
Enhancement Request FGL-12808 "include support for Oracle Data Guard as Foglight repository" has been generated, which will be evaluated for a future release. Failover in Dataguard is not transparent as in RAC and will require code that listens for failover events and modify the JDBC url to point to the backup URL when a failover event is detected.
