Notification channels management (4309162)

Notification channels provide users with the ability to add and manage email notification in Foglight alarms. This functionality offers users with a primary UI to add new email contacts, establish and edit alarm recipients, as well as to configure alarm message subjects and body content.

The Alarm Notification Channels panels can be accessed from the left side navigation menu Foglight UI in "Notification Management" under the Alarm Management entry.

When this entry is selected and clicked for the first time, the main panel will indicated that no notifications channels have yet been created. 

To add a new notification channel

1. Click the Notification Management entry under Alarm Management in the left navigation panel of the Foglight angular UI (user interface)
   
2. In the main page, click the blue Create new channel box to begin creating the new channel
   
3. A new page will appear in the main window
   
4. Enter a new Notification channel name and a description for the channel. Then click the Next button to proceed.
   
5.   In the main Window, the email settings for the notification channel can now be configured
   
6.  In the To field, enter one or more email addresses to define the alarm recipients. When a new email address is added here it will also create a contact automatically for easy reuse later. 
   
   
   An autofill capability is also present to offer users with easy access to add contacts already present in the system by entering a portion of the email address
   
7. To add a CC recipient, click the cc button at the end of the To box.
   
   This will create another field to add a Carbon Copy recipient for the alarms
8. In the main body of the alarm content, informational "i" icons available to provide more options to customize to content of alarm subject and body prefixes. The body cannot be modified.

9. In this example, a To recipient, CC recipient, and Body prefix has been added, along with a modification to the Subject line. Once complete, click the Create button to continue.
   
10. If successful, the new channel will be displayed and a brief popup will be displayed confirming that the channel was successfully created and will automatically be activated. A slider switch is present to activate or deactivate the channel.

Editing a notification channel

1. To edit the channel select the checkbox to the channel in the list, and click the three dots
   
2. Click Edit in the popup that appears
   
3. An Edit channel dialog box appears. Use this popup to modify the channel and then click the Cancel or Save button to undo or keep the changes.
   

Deleting a notification channel

1. To edit the channel select the checkbox to the channel in the list, and click the three dots
   
2. Click Delete in the popup that appears
   
3. Click the Delete button to delete the channel
   

Accessing the Contacts panel

1. Select the Contact tab at the top of the Notification Management page
   
2. The lists of email contacts present in the system are listed
   

Creating a new contact

1. Click the Add Contact button
   
2. A popup appears to add a new contact. Enter email address, name, and role
   
3. Once the contact information has been entered, click the Add button
   
4. A message will indicate that the new contact was created
   
5. The contact will be listed in the contacts list
   

Editing a contact

1. In the contacts panel, select a contact and click the three dots at the right side of the contact
   
2. In the pop up, click the Edit link
   
3. Edit the contact details, then click the Save button to keep the changes or the Cancel button to undo the update
   

Deleting a contact

1. In the contacts panel, select a contact and click the three dots at the right side of the contact
   
2. In the pop up, click the Delete link
   
3. Click the Delete button to remove the contact
   
4. A message will be displayed in the top left corner confirming that the contact has been deleted and the contact will no longer be displayed in the list of contacts.
