Internal Document: Challenges with Sync Glossary List from Mart (4305672)

• The Mart NSM functionality Sync Glossary List from Mart (figure 1) only works going from the Mart Server to the Model, it is not bidirectional meaning you cannot update the data on the Mart Server using the Naming Standards editor in erwin DM.  That is by design and is documented here:  https://erwin.com/bookshelf/public_html/2020R2/Content/User%20Guides/erwin%20Help/Applying%20Naming%20Standards%20from%20Mart.html

• We have a known issue DE7109 where Sync Glossary List from Mart (figure 2) imports duplicate names.  If we change a word in the glossary in Mart Server and initiate 'Sync Glossary List from Mart', erwin imports duplicates of all the names. (figure 3)

• In the mart changed cat to catx

  Then did a Sync Glossary List from Mart

Also, Reference DE7119 Ticket #108977 Sandhill - UK Sync NSM with mart button doesn't do anything.

• Get NSM from Mart (figure 4) brings in the Naming Standard a second time when it is already there.   This has been logged under DE7119

• We don't have a way to remove the NSM from the model once that has been applied.   Deselect currently is not available directly from the UI, but will be available in our next release.  In the meantime, the customer can detach an NSM file from the model by using these SQL queries:
  
  Deselect ALL –
  Update m9Catalog SET N_Id = NULL;
  
  Deselect for a specific Model –
  Update m9Catalog SET N_Id = NULL where C_Id = 65745; --> provide the Catalog Id of the model, which can be obtained using (select C_ID, C_NAME from m9Catalog where C_TYPE = ‘D’
  
  

• for Korean characters to be visible in the NSM File Management, the NSM file must be converted to UTF-8 encoding.  For Data Modeler the NSM needs to be ANSI only.
