When Spotlight on Messaging 7.4.1 diagnostic console runs against a 2010 exchange server that does not hold the Mailbox role the following errors can be seen in the Exchange servers event logs:
Error 1:
The description for Event ID 4 from source MSExchange Configuration Cmdlet - Remote Management cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
Spotlight is running native powershell commands against servers to gather data. Currently Spotlight does not query the role of the Exchange server before running the Powershell commands therefore all commands are being run against all Exchange server roles and failing.
The HUB and CAS roles do not have Mailbox or Public Folder databases therefore running Get-MailboxDatabase and Get-PublicFolderDatabase generates the error messages stated above in problem description.
Unfortunately, this the way Spotlight on Messaging currently collects the data from Exchange 2010 Servers.
