When attempting to open the Spotlight console the below message appears:
This functionality is provided by the SpotlightWelcome plug-in which is not installed on this system. Please contact Quest Software for information about obtaining the required plug-in.
The SpotlightWelcome plug-in is not installed correctly or become unstable.
The steps below allow the separate components to be installed by switching to developer mode:
1) On the desktop of the Spotlight machine find the Spotlight Shortcut.
2) Create a copy of the Spotlight shortcut on the desktop, right click the new shortcut and go to Properties, then append /developer:1 to the end of the target (note the space).
The new target should be as per below:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Spotlight\Console\Spotlight.exe /developer:1
3) Use the new shortcut to launch the diagnostic console.
4) Go to Help->About Spotlight
5) In the Spotlight Modules root tab, right-click Spotlight Console, and choose Install.
6) Browse to the SpotlightWelcome.spx file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Spotlight\Plug-ins\SpotlightWelcome), and open it. Make sure the list now contains Welcome to Spotlight.
7) Close the console and open again using the original Spotlight shortcut not the copied shortcut.
Note: If the above steps do not resolve your errors reboot and re-install UC-D
The plug-ins can be manually installed by the steps above, if multiple plug-ins are not installed it may be better to reinstall Spotlight on Messaging to ensure all components are correctly installed and registered.
