Running query gives ORA-00904 and Schema Browser show foreign characters

Executing a SQL query gives the error "ORA-00904: 'OBJECT_NAME': invalid identifier" and Schema Browser | Tables | Columns | shows foreign characters or symbols like Japanese or Chinese.

Using older Oracle Client, like 9.2.0.1, with Toad to connect to 10g or 11g database servers.

Please install a supported Oracle 10g or above client to run with Toad.
