When upgrading Oracle and/or the Operating System only, is there anything required to be done on the part of SharePlex.
If upgrading Oracle and/or the Operating System only while retaining the current SharePlex version, the SharePlex binaries need to be updated. SharePlex binaries are compiled for a unique combination of Oracle and Operating System version. So if any of the Oracle or OS changes due to upgrade, then it is required to install different SharePlex binaries even if the SharePlex version is unchanged. For example, say SharePlex 7.6.3 was running on Oracle 10g, Solaris 2.8. Now if the Oracle is upgraded from 10g to 11g, while the OS remains Solaris 2.8 and SharePlex version remains unchanged at 7.6.3, it is still required to update SharePlex binaries that will still be at version 7.6.3 but are for Oracle 11g, Solaris 2.8 combo. Even though the SharePlex version remains unchanged, in SharePlex terminology it is termed as SharePlex upgrade.
The above may not be applicable if the upgrade renders the current SharePlex version incompatible with the Oracle and/or Operating System, as, in that situation it will be required to upgrade SharePlex to a version which is compatible with the upgraded Oracle and/or Operating System..
