Due to the Metadata structure change of erwin Web Portal 9.5 to 9.6 and higher. You are required to create a new repository for Web Portal 9.6 (and higher)
We have developed a process to migrate a CAEWP 9.5 repository to an EWP 9.6 repository. The process will migrate the following automatically:
- repository folder and content structure
- content versions and their models (not glossaries and mappings the 721 Portal does not support)
- labels and comments
- configurations and their member contents
- users
- roles as groups
- default user groups per configuration
The following should be restored manually:
- security permissions as security roles
- LDAP specifications
- schedules
Updates:
- Native user passwords are reset to the name of the user.
The process is best done with two machines:
- Existing CAEWP 9.5 application server
- New EWP 9.6 application server
The process is as follows:
- Fully install, initialized the db and install license on the new CAEWP 9.6 application server
- Backup the old CAEWP 9.5 application server database (DB backup/Dump)
- Run script backup on old CAEWP 9.5 application server:
- Create a new empty folder accessible to CAWEP on the old CAEWP 9.5 application server
- Right click on Repository and select More...->Backup
- Specify that empty directory and check BOTH checkboxes
- Click Backup
- Restore the backup script on the new CAEWP 9.6 application server
- Copy the backup script and XML files produced to the new CAEWP 9.6 application server
- Right click on Repository and select More...->Restore
- Specify that copied directory
- Click Restore
- Refresh the browser
Now, you have restored. Note, one must still recreate:
- security permissions as security roles by right-click on each object that needs assignment and selecting Settings->Security
- LDAP specifications
- schedules by right-click on each object that needs assignment and selecting Settings->Schedules. Also, by looking at the Tools->Administration->Schedules
As one can imagine, it is possible to accomplish this migration with just one application server machine, rather than two machines. However, the final manual steps are greatly sped up by having the two environments to compare.
