Depending on the OS and Oracle version, there will generally be more than one Shareplex version available to download. This solution delves on deciding which Shareplex version to download.
General information.
Opening note: Starting with SharePlex 9.2, all binaries generally cover all supported OS and Oracle versions. For example, the binary for SharePlex 9.2.1 covers all supported OS and Oracle versions. Likewise the binary for SharePlex 9.2.3 does the same. But this was not the case in prior versions. Moreover, the Windows binaries always covered all supported Oracle versions. Except for this part, the other content would still be applicable as listed in the rest of the article. Moreover, the rest of the article would also apply to versions lower than 9.2.
Depending on the OS and Oracle version, there will generally be more than one Shareplex version available to download though this is not always true. The choice would depend on whether one wants to download the latest version of Shareplex (in case multiple Shareplex versions exist for that combination) or go with an earlier version. The former would be preferred if one is interested in using newly available features of Shareplex whereas the latter would be preferred if the older version of Shareplex is already in use in another environment and company policy requires all servers to run same version of software.
Please note that the older versions of Shareplex may get desupported sooner than the latest versions (and consequently have a shorter life).
