Messages in event_log "Errors Checking destination host state: IP_address is down"

The following messages are observed over and over though Shareplex is able to replicate the data fine:

sp_ctrl (server_name:2100)> show log reverse

The DNS is not configured properly whereby the nslookup on <host IP> is not resolving correctly though nslookup on <hostname> is resolving fine. So while the replication may be running fine, it may cause issues with some functionalities of Shareplex like compare, etc.

The DNS should be configured properly so that nslookup on hostname should return the host IP and vice versa. This should be done after shutting down Shareplex.

The resolution applies to a specific scenario, and there may be other reasons the error occurs; for example, the hostname with the specified IP may actually be down, in which case Shareplex logs it in the event log.
