TF00049287
When you attempt to register an Exchange database from a backup held on an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 server, the registration operation may fail with an error message containing the following text:
"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."
WORKAROUND
Retry the storage registration operation.
TF00049503
Recovery Manager may fail to restore any data from an Exchange backup created by Symantec Backup Exec version 11d or 12.0.
WORKAROUND
1. Use Backup Exec to extract the backup contents to an alternate location. For instructions, see the documentation for your version of Backup Exec.
2. Use the "Access offline Exchange database, Domino databases, or .pst files" option in the Add Storage Wizard to register the .edb files from the location to where you extracted them. For more information, see the Recovery Manager User Guide.
TF00051096
You may experience the following unexpected behavior while using the "Stores in the cataloged backups" list on the Stores tab in the "Backup Catalog Manager" view: After you have cataloged an incremental or differential backup, the "Stores in the cataloged backups" list remains empty. This occurs in a situation where the corresponding full (normal) backup is not cataloged with Recovery Manager.
WORKAROUND
Before cataloging an incremental or differential backup, use the Backups tab in the "Backup Catalog Manager" view to make sure the corresponding full (normal) backup is already cataloged.
TF00051326
When using the "Access Exchange backups with third-party software" option in the Add Storage Wizard to register Exchange Server databases from backups held on an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server, you may encounter the following problem:
The wizard does not replay the corresponding logs for the .edb files being registered.
WORKAROUND
Use the "Access Exchange and/or Domino backups directly" option in the Add Storage Wizard to register the Exchange Server databases.
TF00054569
When using the Exchange Emulation feature to register Exchange databases from two or more storage groups held in a backup, you may get the following unexpected result:
Storages are registered from only one of the storage groups.
WORKAROUND
Register storages from only one storage group at a time.
TF00054837
When opened, the Recovery Manager Management Shell may display the following error:
"File <FilePath>\RME.ps1 cannot be loaded because the execution of scripts is disabled on this system."
WORKAROUND
Allow the execution of scripts on the Recovery Manager computer:
- At the Windows PowerShell prompt, enter the following:
Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
TF00057024
The Output tab in the "Task Manager" view may fail to display any progress for an automated task that retrieves and restores data from an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server. This problem shows up at the stage when the automated task is retrieving backups from the server.
WORKAROUND
This behavior is by design. To view the operation progress on the Output tab, wait until the task has finished retrieving backups from the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server.
TF00057027
An automated task may fail to simultaneously restore data from a significant number (10+) of backups held on a backup server.
WORKAROUND
Split the task into several separate tasks, each restoring data from less than 10 backups.
TF00057058
One or more instances of the following Recovery Manager processes may continue to run after the Recovery Manager console has been closed:
- StoreHost.exe
- StoreHost64.exe
- QuestSoftware.RecoveryManager.Host64.exe
This may affect the overall performance of the computer where Recovery Manager is installed.
WORKAROUND
End the Recovery Manager processes manually:
1. Start Windows Task Manager (press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC).
2. Use the Processes tab to end all instances of the above-mentioned Recovery Manager processes.
TF00057121
You may encounter the following non-informative error message when attempting to restore mailboxes to their home Exchange Server: "DsBrowseDomainTree::ShowDialog failed."
In fact, this error message indicates that the Recovery Manager computer is not joined to a domain from where you can access the target live Exchange Server.
WORKAROUND
Make sure the Recovery Manager is in the domain from where you can access the target live Exchange Server.
TF00057138
The Recovery Manager User Guide and Help erroneously state that selecting the "Restore folder permissions" check box in the Settings dialog box allows you to restore mailbox folders and public folders with all their permissions. In fact, this is not so and the check box in question only allows you to restore client permissions held on Exchange Server. That is, Recovery Manager cannot restore folder permissions held in Active Directory.
WORKAROUND
Disregard the definition provided for the "Restore folder permissions" check box in the User Guide and Help.
TF00057305
You may encounter the following misleading error message when attempting to restore mailboxes to their home Exchange Server 5.5:
"No Exchange Server exists in the specified domain."
In fact, Recovery Manager does not support restoring mailboxes to their home Exchange Server if the Exchange Server version is 5.5.
WORKAROUND
1. Use the Add Storage Wizard to register the live Exchange Server 5.5 mailboxes to where you want to restore data.
2. Use the Message Restore Wizard or the Mailbox Restore Wizard to restore data to the mailboxes you registered in step 1.
TF00057659
The Add Storage Wizard may fail to register storages from a backup created with the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) when all of the following conditions are true:
- You use the "Access Exchange backups with third-party software" option and select Symantec Backup Exec version 11d or 12.0 from the list.
- The Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) on the Recovery Manager computer is not started.
WORKAROUND
Start the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), and then retry the storage registration operation.
TF00057696
Recovery Manager may fail to detect CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup Agent installed on the Recovery Manager computer, returning an error message erroneously stating that ARCserve Backup Agent is misconfigured. This problem occurs if the Recovery Manager computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows.
WORKAROUND
Contact Quest Support to help you resolve this issue.
TF00057865
After you have restored items to a public folder hierarchy registered as a storage, the Recovery Manager console may fail to automatically refresh and display the restored items.
WORKAROUND
Manually refresh the Recovery Manager console:
1. Select the "Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange" console tree root.
2. On the main menu, select "Action | Refresh".
TF00057873
Your attempt to restore public folders with all their permissions may produce the following unexpected result: Some or all of the public folder permissions are not restored. This problem occurs if all of the following conditions are true:
- The source storage is based on an Exchange Server 2003 database (offline or backed up).
- The target storage is a live public folder hosted on an Exchange Server 2000.
WORKAROUND
Manually set access permissions on the restored public folders as necessary.
TF00057885
In the Message Restore Wizard and the Mailbox Restore Wizard, the Select AD Backup page erroneously provides backup creation times in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). In fact, this page must use local time.
WORKAROUND
Convert the backup creation times provided on the Select AD Backup page from GMT to local.
TF00057907
The documentation fails to provide any information about the Recovery Manager for Active Directory versions with which Recovery Manager for Exchange can integrate to restore mailbox-enabled user accounts in Active Directory.
WORKAROUND
To restore mailbox-enabled user accounts from Active Directory backups, this release of Recovery Manager for Exchange can integrate with Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.8.
TF00057910
When running two or more simultaneous searches on the same storage, you may get the following error message: "Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_OpenedStores'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.OpenedStores'. The statement has been terminated."
WORKAROUND
Run only one search at a time on the same storage.
TF00057953
When you select the "Use already installed SQL Server" option in the Recovery Manager Installation Wizard to specify an existing SQL Server 2008 instance, you may encounter the following problem on the Database Server page: The "SQL Server" box fails to include any SQL Server 2008 instances that exist on your network.
WORKAROUND
- Specify an existing instance of SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005.
-OR-
- Use the "Install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition locally" option in the Recovery Manager Installation Wizard.
TF00057973
Your attempt to restore attachments from messages held in a .pst file-based storage may fail.
WORKAROUND
Contact Quest Support to help you resolve this issue.
TF00057976
An automated task may fail to restore any data from an .edb file-based storage, returning the "Completed with errors" status message. This problem occurs when the storage is open in the Recovery Manager console.
WORKAROUND
Close the storage and rerun the task.
TF00057977
When using the "Access Exchange and/or Domino backups directly" option in the Add Storage Wizard to register storages from backups created by EMC Legato NetWorker, you may encounter the following error at the cataloging stage of the storage registration operation: "Inconsistent data stream." As a result, some of the storages may not be registered.
WORKAROUND
Use the "Access Exchange backups with third-party software" option in the Add Storage Wizard to access the EMC Legato NetWorker server and register storages.
TF00058110
The Task Wizard may return the following error message when on the Select Template page you select a template that restores data to a public folder, and then click Next: "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object."
WORKAROUND
Use one of the Recovery Manager restore wizards or the Recovery Manager Management Shell to restore data to the public folder. For more information, see the User Guide.
TF00058193
The Supported Backup Software section in the Release Notes fails to mention that Recovery Manager supports Symantec Backup Exec version 12.0.
WORKAROUND
Recovery Manager does support and can integrate with Symantec Backup Exec version 12.0. Disregard the fact that Symantec Backup Exec version 12.0 is missing from the Release Notes.
TF00058696
Storage registration may fail when you use the "Access backups with third-party software" option in the Add Storage Wizard to access backups with Veritas NetBackup 6.0 MP2 or later.
WORKAROUND 1
Use the "Access Exchange and/or Domino backups directly" option in the Add Storage Wizard to access the backups.
WORKAROUND 2
1. Upgrade the backup server that holds the backups you want to access to Veritas NetBackup 6.5.
2. Retry the storage registration operation using the "Access backups with third-party software" option in the Add Storage Wizard.
