When I double click on the Toad for Oracle installer, I get the following error message:
Quest Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Likely a Windows OS install policy issue.
RESOLUTION 1:
NOTE: If error is received on Toad for Oracle 10.5.1 installation, perform the following:
1) Go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | and remove 'Quest Installer'
2) Delete the 'Quest Installer' folder in 'C:\Program Files\Quest Software\'
2) Re-download Toad for Oracle 10.5.1 Commercial Installer
3) Run the installation again
RESOLUTION 2:
The end user's company may have a software centralization policy that restricts end users from installing any unapproved software. This is hard to prove on our end as the end user may have admin rights and may be a power user.
Take all the steps outline in SOL48756 but request that the user check with his/her IT department about install policy.
RESOLUTION 3:
One user reported that a "full" uninstall and reinstall of the entire Toad for Oracle Suite resolved the error.
User does not have Quest Installer installed or any other Quest product prior to installing Toad 9.7.2.5. Sometimes, the end user may not be able to run Windows Update.
