RESOLUTION 1:
Perform a complete uninstall and reinstall of both Toad for Oracle and SQL Optimizer (NOTE: if you prefer, you can try re-installing SQL Optimizer by itself first before re-installing everything).
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Full Administrator Rights is required to uninstall and reinstall Toad for Oracle and its components such as SQL Optimizer. Ensure that your Windows User has Full Administrator Rights.
- Go to Control Panel | User Accounts | User Account Control (UAC) | turn it Off or put the slider all the way down.
- When starting the re-installation, Right-Click the Toad installation file and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
1) Fully exit all of Toad and SQL Optimizer.
2) Go to Start Menu | All Programs | Quest Software | Quest Installer | click on “Quest Installer”.
3) Select Toad for Oracle and its components including SQL Optimizer, and then uninstall them. If you encounter uninstall problems using this route, please uninstall it via the Windows Control Panel | Add Remove Programs.
4) After everything is uninstalled, go to “C:\Program Files\Quest Software” and delete or rename the 'Toad for Oracle 10.6' and 'Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle' folders.
5) Next go to “C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\”.
6) Rename the 10.6 folder to 10.6_OLD, if the 10.6 folder exists.
7) Next go to “C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Application Data\Quest Software\Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle\”
8) Rename the 8.0.0 folder again to 8.0.0_OLD.
9) Use the “Toad for Oracle 10.6 Commercial Installer” installation file (Right-Click the Toad installation file and choose Run as Administrator) and install Toad for Oracle and its components including Quest SQL Optimizer.
10) After the re-installation, please re-test the issue.
RESOLUTION 2:
Complete Steps 1-8 in resolution #1. Use the Toad for Oracle Commercial installer to install Toad but uncheck Quest SQL Optimizer so that it does not get installed. Visit
http://support.quest.com and search for Quest SQL Optimizer and download the stand-alone Quest SQL Optimizer installer. Use it to install the SQL Optimizer.
