RESOLUTION 1:
A)
For TOAD 11.5
1) Go to Utilities menu | Copy User Settings | choose “Create a clean set of user files from the base installation” (this process will also create a backup of your old Toad user files).
2) Start Toad 11.5. Check if Toad 11.5.1 seems to have been reset to factory defaults. Re-test the issue.
B)
If you cannot even start Toad, do the following:
NOTE: If some of your folders / directories are hidden, open a Windows Explorer window | go to Tools Menu | Folder Options | View Tab | click “Show hidden files and folders” | click Apply | then click OK.
1) Fully Exit Toad
2) Go to:
XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR_USER>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\
Vista and 7:
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\
3) Rename ALL the "9.7", "10.x", "11.x", "xx.xx_uninstalled", and "11.x_bak" folders you will see. Add “_OLD” in the end of the folder name.
4) Start Toad 11.5
5) Check if Toad 11.5 seems to have copied over the previous user settings from your old Toad installation.
RESOLUTION 2:
Increase your Virtual Memory size via:
Right-click My Computer | Advanced tab | under Performance section, click Settings button | Advanced tab again | under Virtual Memory, click Change button | change the Initial Size and Maximum size to i.e. 8787 and 9987 | click Set button | OK | Apply | OK | reboot PC.
No matter how much memory user has, it is always possible to use it all. That doesn't mean Toad has a bug. Reinstalling, etc, isn't going to help. Toad for Oracle 11.0 and 11.5 are all 32 bit applications and can only use 2Gb of memory, so Toad is going to shut down as you approach that limit. 64-bit Toad for Oracle 11.6, will be able to use much more and is expected to be released on October 2, 2012. It can be downloaded from Quest Support Portal - https://support.quest.com/Default.aspx.
