How to transfer Connections History and Passwords from old Windows XP machine to new Windows 7 machine?
How to transfer Connections History and Passwords from Win XP machine to Win 7 machine:
1) Fully Exit Toad in your NEW Win 7 PC --- IMPORTANT: make sure you check the “Save Passwords” box in the Toad login screen and connect at least once.
2) Go to your OLD Win XP PC and go to the location below:
XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR_USER>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\<version>\User Files\
3) Copy (not Cut or Move) both the CONNECTIONS.INI and the CONNECTIONPWDS.INI files --- NOTE: make a BACKUP of these files just in case of errors.
4) Go to your NEW Win 7 PC and go to the location below:
Vista or 7:
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\<version>\User Files\
5) Paste the files there and replace the existing ones.
6) Start Toad and verify that the Connections History and Passwords were transferred.
