This is a Windows default setting for Windows 8 and Server 2012 or higher Operating Systems. -
Resolution
This setting may be configured via the Group Policy listed below.
Windows Components\File Explorer\Allow the use of remote paths in file shortcut icons
WindowsExplorer.admx
However the registry setting listed below may also be set manually or via a Registry element.
