An installed Update Service is not being detected by the Management Console.
At least one installed and started Update service is needed to use:
Software Deployment, USB/Port Security
When trying to create or configure a Software Deployment element a message shows:
"To use this feature the Update Service must be installed, configured as a download server and started on at least one server. The Update Service can be installed and configured in Server Manager."
The slPatch.ini file is not configured correctly.
On the Desktop Authority server go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest\Desktop Authority\Desktop Authority Manager.
Open slPatch.ini in Notepad.exe
Verify the last line in the file has the current AD site information listed after the "UPDATESERVERNAME=". The current AD site information is available from the AD Sites and Services applet under Administrative Tools on a Domain Controller.
The example below shows a correct last line of slPatch.ini :
UPDATESERVERNAME=DEFAULT-FIRST-SITE-NAME,1,UPDATESERVERNAME
After the slpatch.ini is updated and saved, restart the DA Manager Service.
Then open the Management console and try to create or configure a Software Deployment element.
