RESOLUTION 1:
Toad requires Administrator Rights for the installation. Due to Windows Policies or Firewall that are in place in a company’s network domain, your Admin Rights can still be overridden, which can cause the installation to fail. In this case, have your Network Administrators / IT / Helpdesk people physically log-in to your PC and have them perform the Toad installation for you.
RESOLUTION 2:
Ensure you downloaded the Toad installation file directly to your Desktop location or your local C:\ drive. If you initially downloaded Toad to a network drive location, please delete that file and re-download it again. After re-downloading the installation file, also run it from your Desktop or from your local C:\ drive. Try right-clicking the file and choose “Run as Administrator”.
RESOLUTION 3:
Turn off the Windows 7 User Account Control (UAC) setting:
1. Go to Windows Start menu | under the Search field | typed: UAC.
2. Move the slider bar to the lowest (disable notifications or never notify).
3. Restart computer.
4. Try the installation again and see if it will now work fine.
5. If preferred, turn the UAC back to its previous setting after the installation has completed.
RESOLUTION 4:
For error 3 above, newer versions of Toad Data Point require the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable installed as a prerequisite. If this is not installed, then Toad will attempt to install it (executing from the C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp folder). Execution restrictions may have been placed on this folder, and Toad is unable to execute and continue.
Please arrange to have
Microsoft VC++ 2015 Redistributable installed on your PC and then try the installation again. Install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions as both are required.
RESOLUTION 5:
Use the MSI installer file via an elevated rights command prompt window - Windows 10.
1. In the Start search bar, please type in cmd.exe and press CTRL + SHIFT+ ENTER. This should open an elevated command prompt window.
2. Copy the full path to the .msi installer in the command window, surround by double quotes. e.g:
"C:\Installers\ToadforDB2_6.3.0.269_x64_En.msi"
3. Press Enter.
RESOLUTION 6:
Manually run 'Windows Update' and ensure your OS is complete with all the important updates.
