When creating a Group Policy Template element for Tabbed Browsing in Internet Explorer, it can be enabled or disabled, but can not be set back to a "Not Configured" state.
Workaround:
1. Open the Desktop Authority Manager Console
2. Create a new Registry element under a User Profile using these parameters:
Action - Delete Key
Hive - HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key - Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Tabbed Browsing
(For version 8.x, the "Value" and "Data/Expression" fields are left blank)
3. Set the Validation Logic for the users, groups, OUs or Domain(s) needed.
4. Save and replicate the change.
5. Log into an affected machine,open Internet Explorer and check Internet Options|Tabs to see if the Tabbed Browser Settings have been set back to its default status.
Note: Windows Group Policy can also be used to set the Tabbed Browser Settings back to "Not Configured" as well.
