Toad for DB2 5.6 or below and Toad Data Point 3.5 and below come installed with a built in DB2 client. Create a new Catalog Entry in Toad itself (go to the File menu | New | Connection | click on the “Launch DB2 Client Configuration Wizard” icon (right next to the “Database alias:” field), and add the Catalog Entry there?
Next, see if the DB Alias you added will now show up under the “Database alias:” drop-down list.
Try to connect and if successful connection, that new connection entry will now be inside the “Connection Manager” window on the left, and you can just use that to connect to it again in the future.
Newer versions of Toad for DB2 and Toad Data Point now require a compatible DB2 client, please refer to the release notes on the Support Portal.
