The following error message is displayed when attempting to edit a preexisting group policy template element after upgrading from Desktop Authority version 9.1.1 to Desktop Authority version 9.2:
“Error in group policy template parser. Please contact technical support for further assistance.”
This error also happens when a user tries to import group policy templates from a language that is not supported by Desktop Authority on its' current version.
The error is received as a result of the group policy template parser being programmatically modified between versions.
The resolution for this issue is to Contact Support and obtain an updated Desktop Authority Manager Service (SMWinservice.exe version 9.2.0.1242 or greater) or reference defect DE10871.
As a workaround for the unsupported language version, the simplest and fastest way to resolve this is to copy the templates from the foreign language folder (i.e. "Dutch" De-De) to the "English" templates folder (En-En), located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest\Desktop Authority\Desktop Authority Manager\TemplateFiles.
