Opening a command line and typing in systeminfo or Msinfo32.exe returns with a message:
Can't Collect Information
Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing.
To solve this issue open Windows Services and stop the ScriptLogic CBM service (Desktop Authority CBM service if on version 9.x and above). Open a command prompt and type:
winmgmt /salvagerepository
Wait a few seconds and the following message should be returned.
“Received WMI repository has been salvaged”
If the CBM service is not stopped, the following message will appear:
WMI repository salvage failed
Error code: 0x8007041B
Facility: Win32
Description: A stop control has been sent to a service that other running services are dependent on.
The ScriptLogic CBM service will stop and the command could be ran again showing the message:
“WMI repository has been salvaged”
Running systeminfo or Msinfo32 should now return computer information.
