During the installation of Collaboration Services, you receive the error "Parameter is incorrect" and the installation does not complete. This occurs near the end of the installation, at the "updating product installation settings..." section.
This can also occur when trying to apply a new key on a new Branch.
This may be caused by a problem with password-protected encryption key file (*.akf) generated by the partner Collaboration services installation.
Please try the following to resolve this problem:
1. Re-generate the synchronization partner's encryption key, and run the installation again. Make sure the *.akf key was not altered by spam filters or antivirus. If it was transferred via email, try other means of transfer, such as ftp or copy from a network share
2. Use a different password without any special characters, there is a known issue where an exclamation mark (!) in the key password could cause this problem
3. Make sure both branch and HQ use the same type of encryption, i.e. if AES 256 bit encryption is enabled on HQ, it should also be enabled in branch.
By default the encryption is 128 bit, so the first branch installation should be done with 256 bit encryption disabled.
After the initial installation and branch registration is completed, QCS configuration is accessible on both sides and 256 bit encryption can be enabled again.
