What are the steps for applying Logical Naming Standards to a Reverse Engineered Physical Model so that abbreviated names (e.g. cust) will be changed to the full Logical Name (e.g. Customer)?
Answer:
To make sure that Reverse Engineered Physical Model applies the abbreviated names in the Naming Standard Glossary, please follow the steps below:
1. Click on the Tools Menu > Naming Standards button:
2. Click the New button to create a new Naming Standard and check the boxes "Is Active" and "Physical to Logical":
3. Add the Words and Abbreviations to the Glossary tab and click the Close tab:
4. Navigate to the Tools menu > Model Naming Options and click on the Name Mapping tab, make sure the "Use Glossary" checkbox are all checked to apply the Naming Standards Abbreviations > click the OK button:
5. Switch to the Physical side of the model and create Entities ‘Emp’, ‘Dept’, and ‘Cust’. Also, add Columns named ‘id’ and ‘desc’ as follows:
6. Switch to Logical side and see that the names have been changed as per the entries in the Glossary:
