An error occurred when attempting to communicate with the Desktop Authority Manager service.
Description

The message "An error occurred when attempting to communicate with the Desktop Authority Manager service." is displayed when attempting to open the Desktop Authority (DA) console.
Cause

DaAppPool is running under a Network Service or Domain user instead of a Domain Admin service account.
Resolution

Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, expand the server name and select Application Pools. Select the DaAppPool and click on the Advanced Settings on the right menu.

Change the Identity by selecting the dotted option next to the service account. Select Custom account, then add credentials for the user. Recycle the DaAppPool and test.
