Spotlight uses connection profiles to store information that individual monitored connections use to connect to target servers or systems.
1. How does Spotlight enciphers the user and password details?
2. Does Spotlight encrypt connections/password through network traffic?
Concerning the connection files, in the past Spotlight used the Blowfish algorithm with a 128 bit key for encryption but as of 11.5 this is being changed to 256 bit AES; however current Spotlight does not encrypt the data over network traffic.
STATUS: Issue fixed in version 11.6.1. The latest version of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise can be downloaded at https://support.quest.com/spotlight-on-sql-server-enterprise/download-new-releases
