A connection is made to an Excel spreadsheet with a few sheets. It connected without error, but when accessing the Data tab from one of the sheets in the Object Explorer it threw the following error:
[Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] The Microsoft Office Access database engine could not find the object 'L75707'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and path name correctly.
This error is not from Toad and is thrown on the Microsoft side in reference to the range naming convention violation.
WORKAROUND:
From Excel, check your range name to make sure of the following:
- The name does not begin with a letter or an underscore
- The name contains a space or other invalid characters
- The name conflicts with an Excel built-in name or the name of another object in the workbook
Quest has found that a naming convention where numbers are followed by letters (e.g. A1, AA1, A11, etc.) can also cause this issue.
