How can I resolve ControlPoint installation issues?

Resolution

Make sure minimum requirements are met prior to installing ControlPoint.

Make sure installation account has the required permissions.
The account used to install ControlPoint must be:
- A member of the local Administrators group on the machine where it is installed.
- A farm administrator.
- Added to the sysadmin security server role on the SQL server(s) used for (a) SharePoint content databases and (b) the ControlPoint services database (xcAdmin).
The account used to run ControlPoint must be:
- A member of the local Administrators group on all the web front-end (WFEs) machines in the farm .
- A farm administrator.
- A domain account if any database resides on a different server from the server on which ControlPoint will be installed.
Download and use the correct ControlPoint installer for the SharePoint environment. Otherwise, the error message below will be encountered. For instructions on how to resolve it, please click here.
Ensure the ControlPoint DLL files in the installation folder's BIN sub-directory are blocked by Windows Server. You may refer to this article for instructions on how to unblock them.
Even if the installation account has local administrator rights on the machine, make sure to right-click on the setup file and select "Run as administrator" to perform the installation with elevated permissions.
If the solutions fail to deploy during the deployment phase of the installation, manually retract and remove them from Central Administration, and then restart the configuration wizard.
If the installation continues to get stuck and/or error messages are encountered during the solution deployment, restart the SharePoint Administration and Timer services on all WFE servers. You may refer to Resolve Solution Deployment Issue for instructions on how to do so. If the issue persists, restart the servers and/or install and deploy a test solution file.
