KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA) is a virtual appliance designed to automate device management, application deployment, patching, asset management, and Service Desk ticket management.
The konfig user is used to log into the console for modifying the network configuration of the KACE SMA. When deploying the KACE SMA to Azure, logging into the console with konfig can sometimes show "?"s and make the console unusable.
A kbin can be applied to the appliance to correct the console when logging in with the konfig user.
Please note: The kbin does not reboot the appliance.
When using a fresh instance of KACE SMA on Azure, setting up the network configuration can be done from the webui via the IP address. After completing the setup, the kbin can be applied.
In most situations, after restoring backups to a new instance of the KACE SMA, it is required to log in with the konfig user to change the network settings. In this situation, it is recommended that after a new Azure instance is created, the kbin be applied before restoring your backups to it. This will ensure that after the restore is complete, it is possible to change the network configuration from the console as the konfig user.
Note: If the console is unresponsive after logging in with the konfig user, keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C can be used to exit konfig and go back to the login screen. Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+L can be used to redraw the console screen if error messages start to display over the network configuration under konfig.
