KACE SMA Load Average -
Description
How to view the load average on a KACE SMA appliance to troubleshoot sluggish performance. -
Cause
The appliance requirements allow a maximum of 500 agents for inventory per hour. If the agent run interval settings are set to a check in timeline too low for the amount of agents in your environment, then the load average will reflect an orange or red setting which will either show or start to show performance impacts to other areas of the appliance. -
Resolution
How to view the load average:
The K1000 load average can be viewed by navigating to:
Orgs Enabled:
System Org | Settings | General Settings | Agent-Server Task Settings
Without Orgs enabled:
Settings | Agent | Agent-Server Task Settings.
- If the load average is less than 10, it's displayed as green.
- If the load average is between 10 and 20 , it's displayed as orange.
- If the load average is greater than 20, it's displayed as red.
Note: Ideally, the Load Average on the appliance should be between 0.00 and 10.00. Anything beyond 10.00, and the UI becomes sluggish and tedious to navigate. Adjusting the Task Throughput can help balance the load on the appliance. Logging in as netdiag and running the 'top' command can display resource utilization to assist in determining what scripts or tasks are using the most resources.
