How to perform a NTFS security backup for folder permissions only.

Problem Description 

The default NTFS backups include file and folder permissions, and can become very large. It may be desired to back up the folder permissions only.

Resolution

Within the Security Explorer console, select the “NTFS Security” module and navigate to the folder where the security needs to be backed up. Select “Backup Security” (“Backup Scheduler” can be selected to schedule the backup if desired.)

Set the Backup File Name and the path where it will be saved. Next, change the “Wildcard” File Filter option to a value that does not exist, so that it will skip all the files. It has been set to “*.xyz” for this example. Then select “Backup Security”.
