Description:
I have a problem installing Erwin r8.2.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Running the installation as a user with Administrator rights and additional from the properties tab Run "AS Administrator". The upgrade from a previous Erwin r8 installation such as r8.2.3 failed with following message:
Product: CA Erwin Data Modeler r8.2 -- Error 1918.Error installing ODBC driver Erwin r8.2 DataDirect OpenAccess, ODBC error 13: The setup routines for the Erwin r8.2 DataDirect OpenAccess ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126: The specified module could not be found. (C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Erwin Data Modeler r823\OpenAccess\oaodbc60\ivoas22.dll). Verify that the file Erwin r8.2 DataDirect OpenAccess exists and that you can access it.
I have verified that the aforementioned DLL file exists on the specific path C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Erwin Data Modeler r823\OpenAccess\oaodbc60\ivoas22.dll.
I also verified that I could open (view) the contents of that DLL.
Solution:
Please take the following steps to circumvent the problem:
1) Cancel the installation. The other options (reply and ignore) do not help.
2) Unfortunately, the previous Erwin installation is now incomplete.
2a) Remove the key in Windows Registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CA\Erwin Data Modeler\8.2
2b) Remove the remaining directory from the PC: C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Erwin Data Modeler r8\
Restart the Installation of Erwin 8.2.x as the user with administrator rights and additional using the properties tab Run "AS Administrator".
