In case you are running an EV‑to‑EV email archive migration project, it may be helpful to know on which side (EV source or EV target) the EV Provisioning Module commands are executed.
EV Provisioning Module commands are executed by using Enterprise Vaults EVPM.exe tool. There are two possible topologies:
1\ Single EV directory:
When there is only one EV directory, all commands are executed in the one side.
2\ Multiple EV directories:
When there are multiple EV directories some commands are executed in the source side and some are executed in the target side.
Commands executed in the source directory:
DisableMailbox - Disable mailbox for Enterprise Vault archiving
DisableOrphanedArchive - Set archive in Enterprise Vault system to status "Closed"
RenameSourceArchive - Rename Enterprise Vault source archive (by default attach prefix/suffix to origin name or use custom name)
DeleteArchive - Delete Enterprise Vault source archive
ZapArchivePermissions - Remove all Enterprise Vault archive permissions
Commands executed on the target directory:
EnableMailbox - Enable mailbox for Enterprise Vault archiving
AssignArchive - Assign Enterprise Vault archive to mailbox by attaching archive to LegacyMailboxDN
RenameTargetArchive - Rename Enterprise Vault target archive. (It removes prefix - Quadrotech Archive Shuttle)
CopyPermissions - Copy Enterprise Vault intra-site archive permissions
ZapMailbox - Remove all Enterprise Vault customized archiving settings from the root of the mailbox and any folders within the mailbox
