An uninstalled Software still appears under "Discovered software" section in device inventory -
Description
Occasionally uninstalled programs are detected and listed in the Discovered Software section of a device inventory information. -
Cause
Regularly this happens because when removing some programs they still leave remains in the machine (registry keys or .exe files). -
Resolution
Discovered Software items are populated from an scan that the iventory.exe runs in the endpoint drive and registry. The Inventory.exe creates a result file in the ProgramData folder of the agent called "InventoryData.Software". This file can be opened with a text editor like notepad to get what was detected so then it can be removed from either the registry or the drive.
NOTE: Making changes to the registry can cause potential issues with the operating system if not completed correctly. As a precaution, it is suggested to back up the registry prior to making any changes.
