"Login failed for user" error message (4272778)

The "Login failed for user" error message is displayed when launching the ControlPoint License Manager and/or ControlPoint application.

The SQL connection string within the xcAdminConnection string has integrated security set to "false". During the ControlPoint installation, the option to connect using SQL Authentication was chosen, but the ControlPoint web application itself is not configured to connect via SQL authentication.

1. Open the ControlPoint Configuration Site (e.g. http://servername:1818).
2. Select the ControlPoint Settings List and expand the "Miscellaneous and Custom" category.

   

3. Edit the xcAdminConnectionString parameter so that "Integrated Security=True".

   

4. Save the parameter.
5. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Metalogix\ ControlPoint\ ControlPoint Features, then edit xcClient.exe using any text Editor such as Notepad.
6. Change the xcAdminConnectionString so that "Integrated Security=True".

7. Save the file.
8. Recycle the ControlPoint application pool in IIS Manager.
