Alert for "Missing SharePoint Counters" received repeatedly for a newly added farm -
Description
After discovering your SharePoint farm through SharePoint Diagnostic Manager, you begin to receive an alert with a message similar to the following for one of the servers in your farm:
Failed to collect metric: Missing SharePoint Counters

The SharePoint Server WMI counters required for SharePoint metrics were missing. -
Cause
This issue can occur if the Excel Calculation Services feature is not installed in the target SharePoint environment. The alert indicates that we were looking for a WMI counter around this feature, and did not find it installed. -
Resolution
If you receive this alert and the Excel Calculation Services feature is not installed, disable the alert by doing the following:- In the Diagnostic Manager tree view, right-click on the server reporting the error message, and select Configure Alerts.
- Under the "Server" item in the alert tree, you will see "Missing SharePoint Counters". Turn that off for the affected server and click OK.
The alert will clear, and new alerts around this condition will not fire.
