No User Profile Application available to service the request

Summary :This article provides information about the "No User Profile Application available to service the request" error message when running a ControlPoint analysis report.,

Symptom

An attempt was made to run a ControlPoint analysis based on a SharePoint User Profile property and the following message is displayed on the header before the analysis finished processing:

No User Profile Application available to service the request. Contact your farm administrator.

• A SharePoint User Profile service application is not associated with one or more web applications within the scope of the analysis
• The ControlPoint service account does not have permissions to access the User Profile service application.

1. Open the ControlPoint administration log (xcadmin.log) using any text editor such as Notepad from any of the following locations:
   • ControlPoint application > Manage > View ControlPoint log
   • SharePoint hive directory (..\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\Axceler\log) of the ControlPoint server
2. Identify the web application(s) for which the User Profile service application was unavailable.
3. Make sure the web application is associated to a User Profile service application and/or the ControlPoint service account has permission to access the User Profile service application of the said web application.
