Export Error: The directory is not a subdirectory of the root directory (4272536)

Copy/Move operation fails with the following error message:

Export Error: The directory is not a subdirectory of the root directory. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070090)

at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.AttachmentsSerializer.GetDataFromDataSet(Object obj, SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context)

There is an attachment to one of the copied list items that is failing in SharePoint.

1. Open the ControlPoint import log found in the TEMP location specified in the Copy/Move parameters.
2. Determine the list item causing the problem from the log file.
3. Remove the attachment for the said list item at the source.
4. Copy list item.
5. Add the attachment back to the copied list item.
