When opening the MessageStats console you receive the error: "Could not validate license on <S (4272222)

When opening the MessageStats console you receive the error: "Could not validate license on <Server_Name>: Unable to connect to database."

The currently logged on use may not have permission to connect to the MessageStats database. The server with the MessageStats database is off-line or the server in un reachable.

1. Verify the Currently Logged on user is a member of the MessageStats Admin local security group on the SQL server (if the SQL server is clustered the MessageStats Admin group should reside in Active Directory), or has been assigned the MessageStats_Admin role on the database directly within MS SQL Server.
2. Verify that the server that is housing the MessageStats database is on-line and reachable.
3. Verify that the SQL Server Service is Started.
4. If there is a firewall between the SQL Server and the MessageStats Server make sure the correct port for SQL is open for communication. The Default SQL Port 1433.
