Number of users has exceeded the allowable threshold (4271932)

When a ControlPoint action involving multiple SharePoint users is run, a message similar to the following is displayed in the Task Audit:

The number of users ([num_users]) has exceeded the allowable threshold of [max_users].

The number of users to be included in the action exceeds the maximum number allowed by the ControlPoint application.

Perform any of the following:

• Re-run the operation on a smaller set of users.
• Change the value of the MAXUSERSFORACTION parameter to allow reports to be run against a higher number of users. Please note that this may cause reports to take more time to process or consume more system resources.
  1. Open the ControlPoint Configuration Site (e.g. http://servername:1818).
  2. Select the ControlPoint Settings list and expand the Actions and Analyses category.

     

  3. Edit the MAXUSERSFORACTION parameter and change its value. By default, it is set to 2000.

     

  4. Save the parameter.
  5. Recycle the ControlPoint application pool in IIS Manager and run the action again.
