How to create the ControlPoint Online subsite (4271868)

• The ControlPoint solution fails to create a subsite in the SharePoint Online environment
• Unable to log in to the ControlPoint Configuration Site for ControlPoint Online

The ControlPoint Online solution occasionally fails to create the ControlPoint Configuration Site when it is added to the SharePoint Online environment OR user is not explicitly defined as a site collection administrator. NOTE: Permission must be explicit so user cannot be in a group given site collection administrator rights.

If ControlPoint Online has been installed, but the Configuration Site cannot be accessed, check the following:

• Are you logging in with a site collection administrator account?

  The global administrator does not have the same permissions and will only work if the account is also explicitly listed as a site collection administrator. NOTE: This will not work if the user is only a member of an AD group with site collection administrator rights.

  Users with Full Control over the site will not have enough permissions to log in.

• Sometimes, when the ControlPoint Online SharePoint solution is loaded, it will fail to create the necessary subsite. If this happens, you can remove and reapply the solution OR you can manually create the subsite by following the steps below. NOTE: The solution must be active before you can manually create the site.

1. Navigate to the Primary ControlPoint Configuration Site URL, then click the gear logo on the top right of the page and select "Site Contents".
2. Click "new subsite".
3. Although the name does not really matter as long as the site is built correctly, name it "ControlPoint Configuration" and use the information below:

   The URL name must be cpconfig.
   The template, which is added with the ControlPoint Online solution, must be CPConfigSite.
   The rest of the site options can be left as default.

4. Click "Create".
5. Once the subsite is created, access the ControlPoint Configuration Site using a site collection administrator account.
