In the Spotlight on Messaging console the Topology does not display and in the details pane you receive the error: "Fatal internal error has occurred"
In the Windows System log there are the following Warnings:Warning Resource-Exhaustion-Detector Event ID 2004 Resource Exhaustion Diagnosis EventsWindows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The following programs consumed the most virtual memory: mmc.exe (4700) consumed 270315520 bytes, SpotlightDiagnosticTestEngine.exe (404) consumed 202539008 bytes, and SpotlightRemotingServer.exe (428) consumed 128651264 bytes. -
Cause
Your Server is low on Memory.
The Resource Exhaustion Detector component of Windows Resource Exhaustion Detection and Resolution (RADAR) identifies the top three users of committed memory and warns you when the system commit charge reaches a critical level.

Resolution
Add more RAM to your Spotlight on Messaging Server.
Note:
The minimum requirement for Spotlight on Messaging is 2 GB and on a Server with other applications or in a large environment you will require more than the minimum.
