The VMWare monitoring doesn't require a super-user. It just requires a username with at least a read-only role on the ESX server or VirtualCenter server that you want to connect to.
Here are the steps you need to do to get Virtualization Overhead to show values:
1) Go to File -> Connect, then click on the VMWare icon on the left side.
2) Create a VMWare connection to the VMWare host by double-clicking the "Add new connection icon".
3) Fill in the hostname of the VMWare host, provide the username (with at least read-only role), and the password.
4) Open the properties of the Windows connection and set under "Virtually hosted by" Host to the VMWare connection.
5) Dropdown the "VMWare Name" combo. This is a list of VM's on this host. Set the appropriate item.
The windows connection is now linked to the host and Virtualization Overhead should now work.
