sp_ctrl is hanging -
Description
sp_ctrl hangs. The trace_log indicates:Trace Notice: gethostbyname (cant add entry for %s) [sp_cop(dsm)/299624]

Cause
Shareplex cop is stuck in the $@#%!^g dsm loop assocated with DNS looking.

Resolution
1.Kill all shareplex process
kill -USR1 <pid of sp_cop>
2. Add source and target host name and IP address in the /etc/hosts file on the source
3. start up sp_cop
4. start up sp_ctrl -
Additional Information
This problem only exists before Shareplex version 6.1.There is no more dsm loop in 6.1
