Passwords are not imported to Login record which has been manually edited.

Importing a login Export file does not update the password, if that login record still exists prior to the import of the login file.

 

WORKAROUND:
When trying to edit all passwords at once for all connections in a new environment, you can import the connections with the master password, the imported connections will have the new password set up all at once.

Waiting for fix in a future version of Toad for Oracle.

How to replicate: 1. In the Login window, the Saved Passwords option is checked. 2. An export .txt file of the login records is created (with passwords saved). 3. A login connection with a saved password record is selected and the Edit Connection icon is clicked. 4. In the Edit Login Record window, the Password is manually deleted. 5. Click the Post button. 6. Click the Test button to get the “Password required” message. 7. Click OK to close window. 8. Import the Exported Connection file in step 2. 9. Double click on the record to connect without password prompt (Remember, we exported this record with its password. It should open without password prompt.) 10. Instead we are prompted for a password. This is not right. The entire Export .txt file should have replaced each record. Instead, it looks like Toad only adds those records that are not listed. For that reason, the password information did not carried over in the Import.
