When upgrading from Toad for SQL Server 3.0 to the new 3.1, the setup program wants to install in a brand new directory. I would like to migrate my version 3 files.
Toaddid notask you if you would like to migrate your settings from a previous version of Toad.
The first time you launch Toad after installing, it will ask you if you would like to migrate your settings from a previous version of Toad. If you dont get the window that asks you to migrate settings, please follow the instructions below to manually migrate your settings:
Toad creates a new folder because older files may or may not work with the new version of Toad and some old files may have been reworked all together. I would recommend that you let Toad for SQL Server install in its own (new) directory. Then move the files you want to keep using (i.e. connections.xml) from the from the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<userid></userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server 3.0
To the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<userid></userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server 3.1
Once youve moved your old files (if necessary) to the new version of Toad, just uninstall the older version.
