How to perform Gathering from computer in a Workgroup (4264594)

You have computer in a Workgroup and would like to know how to perform gathering task from this computer which is a member of workgroup.

Please see the resolution section for more detail.

1. On the workgroup computer, install the InTrust agent manually and register with the InTrust server (please refer to the "Manual Agent Install.htm" how to manually install and register the agent). You need to have Administrator right in order to install the agent.

2. Create a site that contain only workgroup computer.
a. Expand Configuration  | Expand Sites, Right click on Microsoft Windows Network and click New Site.
b. On the "Specify Enumeration" screen, make sure you select "Computer Browser service" radio button. Click Next.
c. On the "Select InTrust Server" screen, make sure you select the correct computer that you had registered in Step 1 above. Click Next.
d. On the "Site Object' screen, Click Add  | Computer. Type in the Workgroup computer that you had registered on step 1. Click Ok once done. Click Next.
d. On the "Configure Filter" screen, click Next.
e. On the "Name and Description" screen, give it a meaningful name and click Next.
f. On the "Summary page", click finish.

3. Create the gathering job. Please create seperate Task for the Workgroup computer.
a. Expand Workflow  | Task, right click and click New Task. Follow the wizard and finish the task.
b. Right Click on the newly created task and click "New Job".
c. On the "Job Type" screen, select "Gathering" and click Next.
d. On the "Select Policy" screen, select the Policy that you want (is good that you create a new Policy for workgroup computer). Click Next.
e. On the "Select Site" screen, select the Workgroup site that you create in Step 2. Click Next.
f. On the "Data Store" screen, Select all the "Repository" (if you would like to gather to Repository) and also the "Database" checkbox. Make sure you also select the "Use agent to execute this job on target computer" checkbox. Click Next.
g. On the "Name and Description" screen, give it a meaningful name. Click Next.
h. On the "Summary" screen, click Finish.
